About Leftoffvice

An archive built by working film photographers.

Leftoffvice was started in 2019 by four working film photographers and a magazine art director who'd grown tired of stock libraries selling film 'aesthetics' that were really digital files run through grain plugins. We built an alternative: only frames shot on actual film, only scanned from original negatives, only catalogued with the stock and processing data designers need to work with the material honestly.

How the archive is built

Every frame is scanned from an original negative or transparency — no digital files dressed in grain. Every frame ships with metadata covering camera, format, film stock, processing lab, and scan resolution. Photographers control which of their frames go into the archive and at what license tier.

Why this matters for designers

Designers working with heritage brands, magazine projects, or analog-adjacent campaigns need photography that responds correctly under press conditions — film grain that holds at large print sizes, color that survives separation, and material honesty in the metadata. Synthesized 'film looks' fail at all three.

Who we serve

Magazine art departments. Brand designers working on heritage or analog-adjacent campaigns. Editorial designers. Working film photographers who want a fairly-paying outlet that respects the work. Plus the photographers themselves: above-industry royalties on every license sold.

License film that looks like film.
